chronic illness problem #27
When it feels like all hell has broke loose on your insides.
When it feels like all hell has broke loose on your insides.
I know I’m struggling, and going through so much pain and aggravation right now, BUT, that doesn’t stop me from praying hard for everyone I know and love.
I was feeling like absolute crap, and somehow, I knew I’d find myself back in the hospital. I had an appointment with my surgeon, and I went. It seriously took everything inside of me to get up and go. At that point, I hadn’t been able to keep any fluids or solids down for 2 days. I went to the doctor, who actually gave me AMAZING news. Still, he called the hospital and told them to expect me in the ER; to give me fluids and have an xray, then send me home. I actually didn’t mind the ER because I know they’d give me something for my nausea and my pain, which they did. Little did I know, that was it for meds, and I was being kept for observation. That shocked the hell out of me because I CLEARLY heard my surgeon say I was only going to be there a few hours.
The surgical residents (one of them is my absolute fave) came to me at 6:42 am and said my doctor would see me soon, and I’d be able to find out what the deal was with not giving me any meds. 12 hours later, still no doctor. Someone came in my room and said my doctor would be here at 8.
Around 9 he shows up and tells me he didn’t know I was still in the hospital. He never said to keep me for observation. Soooo I was discharged, and now I’m home. Yay.

The infection is basically cleared up, but these wound vac people keep messing up and I have to go to the ER to get it fixed. Fml
After being in the hospital for 9 days on 24 hour antibiotics, my staph infection is clearing up. The wound vacuum is the strangest thing I’ve ever seen, but it works. It’s extremely uncomfortable, but nothing about what I’m going through is.
So here’s what’s going on…
11 days after I was released from the hospital, I find myself back in here. I had a routine appointment with the stoma nurse. My incision from the surgery opened up in four places. No lie, I mean HOLES inside of me. Sadly, I was readmitted to the hospital.
I had to have a ct scan, and I swear I was touched by every doctor, nurse, and secretary in the damn hospital. After about 12 hours in the ER and RDC, I finally got a room. I swear the nurses I had were TweedleDumb and TweedleDumbass. I was beyond pissed but eventually fell asleep.
The next day….The nurses and the surgical team cleaned it up and packed the wounds. They told me beforehand it was going to hurt, so they premedicated me with dilaudid. That was a waste of a good ass drug. I screamed bloody murder!!! That’s when one of the surgical residents decided it would be a good idea to numb the area. No shit, Sherlock.
What they did was pack the holes with SPONGES, then hooked up a vacuum to suck out all of the pus from the infection. Bloody, hell.
More horror stories to come!
